Nothing is as bad as ME was. XP Pro has been a very
stable operating system. I have heard that XP home
edition is a little un-stable though. This is due to the
fact that Home edition is based more on 95/98 technology
while pro is more nt.

Incorrect;
Windows XP Pro and Home are both based on NT.
They are also identical in performance and stability largely because
the underlying code is nearly identical.

Windows Xp, despite a few hassles with Hotfixes, has to be the best that
Microsoft has ever done.. If you have ever used Win98s.e. and gotten used to
all its' glitches, it was fun once you got it working o.k. but it certainly
was NEVER stable.... (remember having to warm boot-it after awhile just to
get it back-up to decent speed?) ...ME was an abomination, and I knew it, so
i never used it... XP is a revolution in many ways and certainly the most
user friendly (for the average user) I personally think Redmond listened to
the consumer on this one and it shows..
I believe most peoples problems with XP are due to 'upgrades' rather than
clean installs (the only way to do it) and some careless practices of their
own which would cause any OS before Xp to crash.. Xp recovers files nicely
when we mess with them (chkdsk) try that with ME.....
