big win xp problem

i installed an application and then uninstalled it. now the pc freezes for
some time (about a minute) and the cpu usage for explorer.exe goes to 99%
while i am doing nothing.then it drops and the pc can be used again.if i
login with another user then i dont have that problem.please help me...i
need a way to fix it before i have to format the whole drive...thank you

also do a search on google for the program you installed, there may be some
special issues with it.
