Hi

I am having PowerPoint 2002. When ever I insert a graph
bu clicking on Slide layout and choosing a layout which
has a graph. It appears as red X and the X is very big
and is all across the screen. The screen shot of it is
included.

Double clicking on it leads to the graph however when i
click out side it turns this way again.

I have used all the resources and never found a
resolution.

Please help!

Hi,

If this is consistently happening, could you please send me a copy of the
saved file before you add it, and one after it is added and saved, with the
red x? How big is the file?

That is, please send me a copy of the file as it exists before you start
adding the offending element. Then add the element that causes it tot he
same file, save as something else and send it as well. If I can see it here
I'll let you know. Please remove spaces from reply address to email me.

The Red X's have attacked again... Seriously, the infamous Red X is
primarily a video resource problem (not enough video ram to display image).
This is most noted on computers that are either running many things in the
background, have a shared-memory video card or are attempting to display a
massively complex image/graph. Here is a bit more info (and humor) on the
Red X:

I am guessing your graph is one imported from Excel. If so try to ungroup
the graph (looses all Excel data and becomes a tangle of lines and text
boxes), as this will greatly simplify the image for display. This can be
accomplished with a PASTE SPECIAL or once inserted, right click >> ungroup.

Let us know if any of this pertains to your particular problem.
