i dont know if this is appropriate for this group but my
computer gave me a bib error that my c:\windows\system32
\config\system file was corrupt. i attempted to repair
it with the recovery console that was a no go. i then
formatted another harddrive i had with xp and attempted to
switch the files and that didnt work either. so what im
asking is is there anyway i could connect the old hd and
then access my old files by using a password or something
like that?

Do a repair install of XP on the old hard (original) drive.

If you just hook up your other hard drive to the primary
slave or secoundary master then you should be able to get
right in to your files. If you have xp on both drives
then find a drive with XP on it that works put it as the
Primary Master and load it with all the drives installed
and you should be able to get on all the drives.
