Big problem, at least it is for me

I am mearly an intermediate user of Windows software. My father decided to
install Vista on my main machine, did not create an extra partition,
installed it on my main drive, which changed my original windows folder to
"windows.old". Vista will not allow me to change the folder names back, I
can't get all my installed programs to come up (Either through their program
files, or by transporting them into the new program files folder). I really
would like to just remove Vista, but I can not figure out how to do it
without formating my main partition which would zap everything I have. The
new user interface is fantastic, if I could figure out how to import all my
existing programs into the new vista I could probably live with it.

Vista is removed by formatting the drive. There is no rollback from Vista
to XP. Sorry.

While it may not help, be a pal and install Vista on Pop's machine. Let him
"enjoy" Vista as much as you are!

You really need to re-install all your programs again to get them to
work correctly
