Outlook 03- I have disassembled about 30 DL's and put all 1,700 contacts back
into the "contacts folder" and categorized them by specialty. It's beautiful
now. If I try and select all 30 categories now and send an email, it fails.
So is there a limit to sending to this many people at one time? If so is that
a server setting? Perhaps I will have to break the categories up and send to
4-5 at a time.

I tried just for giggles to use the Email Mail Merge tool and that worked
like a champ except I thought I would have a say as to when the message would
go out, bt once you hit merge it goes all the way. This is a nice option.

Any help would be great.

Mail merge sends one message to each entry in the Contacts list. An ISP will
generally limit the number of recipients for any one message. Residential
accounts=50 recipients. Commercial accounts=150 recipients. Commercial
accounts with a Mass Mailing agreement=1,000 recipients between 11:00 p.m.
3:00 a.m. PST. Outlook has no limit...

Try describing more clearly what you are doing and what happens.
There is really no information here.
Not sure I understand why you need to use categories if you're sending to
all of them at once.

Sorry Russ. This all started when we had about 30 DL's that no longer worked
once we migrated from GroupWise to OUtlook. So I tried fixing all the DL's to
no avail, they still errored out due to size limitations. These are doctor
email addresses. All the Anesthesilogist get categorized together and so on.
Sometimes we need to send just to the Anesthesilogists and the Urologists
only. Other times we may have to send to more, and occasionally all 30.

Combined, the categories contain 1,707 contacts. I am trying to figure a way
to be able to send to all categories sometimes and maybe just a few on other
occasions. We are just trying to find the easiest way to send mass mail
without error. Dl's do not work well, categories work better but is there a
best way without putting the whole darn thing on the AD Server?

Categories work far better than DL's, but you still didn't say how they
aren't working for you.
What sort of problem are you having with them?
The most important thing to remember when using Categories is that each
Contact in the category needs to have a valid, resolved email address.
