Better than Powerpoint

Are there any programs that are better than powerpoint?
Well, Josh99, it all depends what you want to do - so what *do* you
want to do with such a program?

PowerPoint is the *WORST* at rototilling my garden, but pretty good at
showing a few thousand people in 12 countries, how to do it.

PowerPoint has yet to fill my car's gas tank correctly, but it is used for
advertisement on the cashiers counter inside.

It is truly pathetic at balancing my check book, but not bad for explaining
to a classroom the need and methods of doing the same.

But, when it comes to presentation software, PowerPoint is, hands down, the
industry standard. There are others, sure, and one of those may be better
suited for you. But for me, PowerPoint is the only one I need.

Just as a side note, asking for a better presentation software program in
the PowerPoint support newsgroup a little like asking the pope which
religion is better. The views may be (just a tad) biased. Why not ask a
salesman at your local software store, I'm sure he has loads of software
programs he will suggest that you buy.

Power point is very poor at playing MPEGs consistantly.
Animations routinely don't work in PPT03 when they used to
in previous versions. For large presentations with linked
movies, Powerpoint does not seem to be the answer. We do
need a more powerful and reliable program.

I have checked out other presentation pgms over the years (Open Office,
WordPerfect, and others you've never heard of) and have found none better
than PPT. True, parts of PPT suck, but IMO it's the best we've got. And it's
fast and it's easy.

Yeah, It existing a program better than powerpoint. Scala but it's
more expensive (I think it's 500$ but I'm not sure).

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

If it is important to you (or to anyone else reading this message) that
PowerPoint have some of the abilities that are available in the Scala
products, don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to
Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
