Short of calling MS, are there better places for help then this board? There
doesn't seem to be enough follow through from anyone and it seems only the
very simplest questions are answered.

Ask your question, we'll tell you where to go...for better help for your
specific issue.

Thanks for the help

I have two XP Pro computers in a single server domain that routinely fall
out of the domain. When the user attempts to login it says that a domain
controller cannot be contacted. To login you have to either unplug it from
the network and used the cached account or you need to log on locally. The
computer accounts are in active directory as are the user accounts. The
computer can see the domain fine. If you pull the computer out of the domain
and put it back in (both actions are fast and without problems) it will work
for some undetermined amount of time...

I have the same problem Ted with one XP box that every few days will fall off
the domain. This despite the fact that its computer account resides in AD
and continually gets deleted and re-entered but to no avail. Just out of
curiosity, did you install your xp box with Ghost or any other imaging
software? The reason I ask is that the person who previously worked in my
job used to image and not use sysprep at the same time. I occasionaly find
problems with clients which have quirky network issues which i sometimes just
put down to bad imaging. I am about to snap the network card out of the
offending box and reinstall from a fully prepped image....I'll let you know
how it goes!!

I didn't use any imaging software. I have recently found that if you remove
the computer from the domain, rename it, then rejoin the problem might be
resolved (it hasn't dropped back out yet).

If you look at some of the more "complex" questions,...most of the time you
can't figurre out what they are really asking. But even if you figure that
out it would require a lot of information about the network in question that
the one asking the question never provides, or privides inaccuartely and
leads you on a wild goose chase,...so the question ends up not getting
answered or not properly answered. But if we were physically at their
location and could see it with our own eyes the problem might be solved in 5
minutes.
