Hi, I just loaded vista a few nights ago. some parts work fast other parts
not so fast. Are there any performance enhancing software availa yet for
vista, if so which one is best for vista. I have a laptop and it is max on
memory for now.

Thanks!

Don't think so, but there are a number of tools already included in Vista
that may help.

Reliability and Performance Monitor [ Start > perfmon ]
Event Viewer [Start > eventvwr.msc ]
Task Manager [ctrl-shift-esc]

These require a certain amount of knowledge so I would recommend gettting a
good book on Vista from your local shop (eg Ed Bott's 'Windows Vista Inside
Out'), which would guide you through using them.

There is alot going on in the background with Vista, and not all of it is
absolutely essential.
Main areas to look at would be would be similar to previous versions of
Windows such as

--Services
--Startup programs
--Performance Options

In addition Vista has a whole load of regular tasks, such as setting Restore
points, spyware scans, mobilepc tasks, phone homes to Microsoft, Media
Center updates etc, which again aren't all absolutely necessary, and many of
which can be disabled.

I have 2 MB now.. I made some adjustments on startup and turned off other
programs, the system is faster, it seems to be gettingb faster every day. I
would still like to optimize it.

Thanks!

2MB? I can only assume you mean 2GB.

When you first install Vista, it will take some time to index your files.
That will slow the system down some during the first few days. But I think
you need to be more specific... faster doing what? Slower doing what?
