I read somewhere recently, I think Maximum PC, that it's better to
have more fans blowing air INTO the case than out, because forcing
more air in will help force out dust away from the mobo et al, while a
equilibrium will keep the dust flowing with the air channel right over
your components.
Any thoughts on that?
Thanks!

Logically, I can't see how the number of fans in vs. number of fans out can
possibly make any difference. No matter how you look at it the AMOUNT of air
going into the case will equial the AMOUNT of air coming out of it (unless
the case is going to implode or explode). I've had a full tower case which
had a rather powerful fan at the very bottom-front and which, when placed on
the floor in my home office, served as an effective vacuum cleaner (or a
hoover for our UK friends) and which sucked up an amazing about of hair
which my Labrador retriever shed. But that would have been the same even if
there was no fan there but an equally powerful one sucking air out the back
instead -- it was the position of the unfiltered vent and not the fan which
was causing the problem. I'd prefer a case with the largest possible fan,
120mm or thereabouts, at the back pulling air out. It should be quieter
because it can rotate more slowly and still maintain a good air volume and
it should be quieter because it is on the back, away from the user. Add to
that some sort of filtration on the air inlets (to keep the dog hair out)
and the case should be suitable for normal and slightly OC systems. Of
course if you are anticipating heavy-duty OC then you will need to put up
with fans at every orfice but the amount of air going it will still equal
the amount coming out and then you always aim to achieve a decent air flow
past the hottest comonents inside. Just my $0.02 of course...
