better/faster way for the XP client to resolve domain name?

In a native mode W2K domain with XP clients, when I go to add an XP client
to the domain, do I enter the NetBIOS domain name without the .com extension
(we are a .com company), or do I enter the domain name plus the .com
extension>? It seems like either way works. What is the better/faster way
for the XP client to resolve domain name?

We do run WINS in our domain to high prevalence of NT clients.

Is that it? I knew that. My question is when adding .com extension to
domain name, does the process change any despite the same end result?
