memory ram, what is the difference, what is better?
ddr2 533mhz 1gb or
ddr2 800mhz 512mb

one is 1gb but at 533mhz and the other is 512mb at 800mhz

Faster memory will give slightly better performance. Insufficient memory will give much slower performance. Go with 512 MB 800 Mhz memory only if you are sure your requirements will not exceed 512 MB.

One is not "better" than the other. It depends on the application you are
using.

Are these homework questions?

Even if not, I think you need to back up and consider how a
computer, operating system an applications work before
asking, then it should be more obvious.

The other alternative to such a basic question is to do a
simple web or usenet search- there are many many posts and
articles about the impact of memory speed and quantity.

The short answer is the faster memory is, err, faster- so
long as the system supports that speed, but more important
is to have at least enough for the OS and jobs being ran-
and only the person configuring the system or running the
jobs can decide how much memory is required.
