I have just downloaded and ran the new Microsoft spy software. GOOD JOB!!! I
have run forever, Spybot and Adware with success. I have tried other demo
and other freeware spy detectors (aol's sucks). In almost every case even if
they found anything that the other two softwares didn't (which I can not
remember when this happened), the software would run TOO much in the back
ground and took too much system memory and sometimes did not give you the
option of removing from system tray etc. This Microsoft beta found two
unwanted after running both other softwares which was impressive. The only
down fall is that even if set up as not a 'real time' engine it will still
appear in your tray (which we all know to get rid as many of these as
possible). Using my registered copy of Ultimate Trouble Shooter gave me the
option to iliminate this with no success though I have disabled 'real time
engine'. All in all I like it and it will be the first such program I have
chosen to use in 2 years other than the old faithfuls. The only thing is
that it will reset your 'home page' on explorer to MSN.COM (good try and
would be interested if I were 13 years old!) but that is easily fixed.
I will continue to use and will look forward to updates!

Thanks, Tony. Beta1 has a number of well documented (in these groups, at
least!) failings. Beta2 will be better--in the particular way that you've
mentioned--the real-time scanner portion will run as a service, in the
background. No certain date has been announced for beta2
availability--sometime in the next six months, anyway.
