Beta killed my CD & DVD Drivers

I was having problems with popups, so I downloaded the
Beta program. I was thrilled when it destroyed all the
ads. However, last night I tried to play an audio CD and
it never launched. I looked on the device manager, and I
found that my drivers for both my CD and DVD drives had
disappeared. I restored to a pre-beta date, and the
drivers are there. I re-ran Beta, and they're gone
again. Computer is a Sony Vaio, CD is ASUS and DVD is
Pioneer. Any ideas?

Please submit a Tools, suspected spyware report from the
infected machine!

Okay. I'm at work right now and can't get to it. Does
that submit the problem to Microsoft?

Well, its generally for unknown Spyware that is hard to get rid of.

I think you need to be a little more cautious about oking all the proposed
actions after the scan.

Do the scan--for best results, do it in safe mode. Then go through the list
of stuff found and check the details of each item--see if you can spot the
items which include these drivers. Choose ignore for those items--but
record the names and details if not too voluminous.

This sounds like there are some false positives involved--or, perhaps,
virally infected drivers which are being properly flagged.

Another approach would be to allow Microsoft Antispyware to clean this stuff
up, but to restore the drivers from a known-good source--the vendors web
support site, or the original CD's that came with the machine.
