Beta 4.8 Corruption

I installed the beta 4.8's and when i set my x800xt platinum edition to
performance it corrupted my desktop,rolled back to official 4.7's and
everything was fine.

Beta is beta, but the input may be helpful to some users.

he was was just trying to get a good 3dm03 score thats all, not that I am
jealous or nothing ;)

The last thing I'd be doing with a new X800 XT is setting anything to
"performance"; hell, I don't do that with my 9800 Pro.

I'd been pissed off for a couple of months now with the crappy shadow
flickering in Thief 3 that had been present since the 4.5 Cats...

THAT'S GONE WITH THE 4.8 BETA!!!!!!!

*The only problem I had was some weirdness with smartGART. I had to
reboot twice to get fastwrites turned off, then it decided to set me at
4x AGP, which is no big deal just different from every other time when
I've had smartGART set me at 8x (which should be natural). I was able
to manually set it to 8x AGP, though I know that doesn't make any
difference.

Oh, my 3DMark03 with these is 6078, up a whopping 49 pts from 4.7.
Almost every test was identical but I picked up 7 fps in the first GT1 -
Wings of Fury test.
