Beta 2 Delayed Until May 24th, 2006!

News Source: Paul Thorrett.

P.S. The Release Candidate has been Delayed until August 25, 2006!

P.P.S. Now you can see exactly why I am so Angry at Microsoft, because I
now have to wait until May 24th, 2006 to get a New Build of Windows Vista!

It also makes me real mad that Microsoft gave us MSDN Tester's the following
choice:

A. Continue to test Windows Vista Build 5308, knowing that our computer's
are at risk (See my Post about the Critical IE 6 and IE 7 Vulnerability
Below).

or

B. Stop testing Windows Vista, and test only IE 7.00.5335.5 using Windows
XP Service Pack 2.

Kevin, you let your own anger defeat you. If you'd learn to control
yourself, you wouldn't stay angry so much. Don't blame it on the mental
condition you claimed before either. Take your MEDS.

I'm sorry, but nobody within the organisation knows for definate when a new
build is being released. They only know when they're actually compiling the
ISO that's being put onto Connect.

Whatever sources you're reading, they are wrong. As Andre would say, "I've
lost all credibility for you."

By its nature any Beta is a risk.
It is real simple.
If you are unable or unwilling to take risk, Beta anything is not right for
you.
The choice of risk is totally yours and no one other than you is responsible
for the choice you make.

Since the Beta should be used in a test environment and not in a production
environment, your risk is minimal anyways.

Paul Thurrott is not my source for BETA information on Vista, neither is
Neowin, I am in the beta program, so I really don't need to freak out over
these Paul Thurrott funky news. I am in the beta and I'm contented just as
long as I receive the builds, no biggie. The only people that are suppose to
be freaking out over the delay are Company's that signed up for Licensing
6.0 and Software 3 years ago and are not gonna receive Vista before July.

Was Beta 2 going to be the April CTP? Or will there still be an April
CTP?

Since MSFT is going to miss the Xmas season anyway, why not delay it to
April 07 or whatever and give us all the cool stuff like virtual folder
and the new file system? I mean, it's not like people have to buy a new
computer to watch the Superbowl or celebrate Presidents' Day.

That's ridiculous! MS doesn't HAVE to give you or anyone else anything for
free.
Grow up. Be happy with what you have and get that chip off your shoulder.

The build that is next released (either mid April or early May) will be Beta
2 of Windows Vista and NOT the April CTP. However, the technical testers are
expected to get a private copy of Windows Server "Longhorn" to be available
(possibly on MSDN as well) for downloading. This won't be Beta 2 however as
it's on a different roadmap timeline as Windows Vista.

Remember, Longhorn Server will be released at the same time as the Vista
SP1 - so that could be a year, year and a half afterwards :o(

Zack,
what makes you so sure of the timetable?. What does Vista sp1 have to do
with the release of the server version?.

It's now public knowledge that Vista SP1 will coinside with the release of
"Longhorn" Server. This was previously mentioned in a beta chat, but I've
had permission to talk about it (therefore everyone is).

Hope that's OK :o)
