Well... in regards to the public beta - I'm pretty sure people will agree
with me on this one.
Vista Beta 2 (for home users) and "Longhorn" Server (for IT Pro's) are
really huge releases - those who validate as "hardcore users" of software
get into the technical beta and those who don't can get TechNet and MSDN.
They get the builds first, which is fair enough... but at the moment, their
just letting all us lot settle down with Beta 2 in preperation for the
public release.
They're rolling out the servers, getting them all online to compensate for
the huge flood of users who want the public beta. From the initial release
of Beta 2, this would have taken between 2-4 weeks to get everything set
up - so far we're about 2 and a half weeks in thereabouts. It gives us
testers time to get to grips fully with it, so that people who decide to
download the public beta, we can help them out
)
Obviously theirs more to it and stuff, but hopefully that sheds a bit of
light onto things. Public beta will be soon - this month almost definately
