*All* of the ones I've had experience with are pretty crappy. Perhaps
this comparison will be helpful:

I'm basically just reponding to warn you about the crappy clip/stand
that comes with some Creative webcams. Maybe I just got a bad one, but
it has proven worthless:

It's designed to clip onto a laptop or flat panel monitor, so sitting on
top of a traditional CRT would naturally be precarious. I've noted that
the torque put on the camera by adjusting it will easily pry it open and
send it to the desk or ground. (I finally got sick of it and took a
Dremel to it, so my antagonism has subsided a bit.)

I personally like the Logitech webcams. For having a video conversation,
most of these cameras are good for the price. Having a very high pixel rate
to send over the system will only slow things down, and use more bandwidth.

If you want absolute quality, get a video capture card, and use a video
handycam. But, the bandwidth use is going to be very high.

Among others I have an Intel Model CS430 that has a composite video in jack
right on the back that allows be to connect my Sony Camcorder for extra
features like pan and zoom, wide angle and telephoto.
