best way to work messages and caledar

What's best way to set up views so that can read messages and at the same
time see and add/delete calendar appointments with minimal amount of effort.
(open inbox and calendar in separate windows? Its kinda hard to see the
calendar...has to be squeezed small in monthly view). Any other ideas?

Separate fullsize windows would probably be the best solution.
