What is the best way/software to use to be able to boot if the hard drive
crashes?

from it

Hi;
Reseat firmly ALL ( I mean ALL) connectors and cards in the PC. Get rid of
the dust bunnies while at it.

Reboot accessing the bios.

Have bios redetect ALL drives and cards.

If HDD's still not working: chances are it really failed.

Buy a new hard drive. Send your old hard drive in to a data recovery company
so they can attempt to recover the data off of it.

Next time buy a 2nd hard drive and keep a backup on it.

Or set it up as a mirror :)
