I have an onboard video card now and would like to change it to a 128MB
ATI video card that I have. What is the best way to take the old one off
and put the new one on?

Thanks,

Alias

If there are no instructions with your ATI card. Make sure you have the
drivers for the new card and go to device manager and uninstall the onboard
drivers. Shutdown the PC and fit the new card, start-up again and if you are
prompted to use the "New Hardware Wizard" cancel it. Wait until the PC has
started (it may take longer than normal & you should get a basic 800X600
display) go to where you have the new drivers and run the setup. You will
need to reboot again but that should install the new drivers correctly.

Don't I have to disable the onboard video in the BIOS or will
uninstalling it in Device Manager do the trick?

Thanks!

Hi,
Usually when you fit an AGP video card then that's it. However if you know
there is a setting in the bios to disable onboard graphics then you perhaps
need to do that, refer to the motherboard manual. If it's a relatively new
motherboard I doubt there's a setting to disable the graphics though.
