Best Video Card for Win98SE

What would be one of the highest performing vid cards for playing games like
Doom 3, HL-2, etc?
Besiding building a new computer, what are your suggestions?
System:
Radeon 8500LE
1GB DDR SDram
2100xp Palomino CPU (138 MHz FSB) running around 1.8GHz
ECS K7S5a MB (AGP 2.0)
Radeon 8500LE 128MB
Dual Boot: Win98SE-Win2000Pro
450w PSU

Highest performing ATi AGP card with Win9x drivers: Radeon X850XT
Highest performing nVidia AGP card with Win9x drivers: Geforce 6800 Ultra

Performance-wise the two are a toss-up.

It looks like I might go for the GeForce 6800 or similar. Are there any
cheaper ATI cards that are sufficient for 40+ fps in Doom3 at Medium or High
settings with Shadows on? It seems that leaving Shadows on in Doom3, really
slows down my 8500LE.

You may want to pick up a used ATi Radeon 9800 Pro for less than $70 on
eBay. Back when I owned this card, installed in a system similar to yours,
it gave ~ 50 fps in Doom3 at Very High with everything on.

Appreciate the advice.
I will probably be building a whole new system next year and I just needed a
vid card update, like you suggested, that didn't cost too much for the
interim.

Just saw a great deal on an X850XT from NewEgg.

But then, I checked the ATI site and there are no drivers for it in Win98SE.
The highest card for Win98SE is a Radeon 9800series card.
I'm still searching for another replacement.
