I have a PC which I'm using for audio work. I'd also like to pump my
music system through it (verrry limited space) and want to pick up
some okay speakers. My budget is pretty tight, though. Any ideas?
Mostly I'm mixing acoustic chamber music recordings. Thanks

If you are on a limited budget, I would stick with a good set
of "2.1" speakers.

I had a set of Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 speakers, that cost me about 50
bucks 4 years ago. I'm sure there are comparable ones that you can find for
much less than that today. If you want to stay well under $100, 2.1 is the
way to go. If you are willing to spend $100 for speakers, you can surely
get a nice set of 4.1, and possibly even 5.1 speakers...which, if you're
doing multi-channel audio stuff, I don't see how you can live without.
Besides, stereo is on the way out...everything's moving to surround sound.
Television is broadcast in surround sound now, SACDs, DVD-A, not to mention
pretty much any DVD movie...stereo is sooooooo 20th centruy, man. ;)
