Hi there, I was wondering if people could give me some ideas on server side
virus software. I have a Windows 2000 Server with Exchange and would like
something that will monitor exchange and remove viruses before the hit
users' mailboxes as we are wasting a lot of productivity with people deleted
virus's all day! Just a general idea about what software is out there and
some recommendations would be good.

Thanks,
Ric

Sophos is pretty good for your purpose. Central installation on the
server, Enterprise edition updates itself automatically, and
workstations are covered by the central installation and are therefore
also automatically updated.

Go to microsoft's webpages on exchange server. They list a few solutions
there. You may also want to try some of the other major AV vendors sites not
listed at MS's site to see if they have specific products for exchange
server. In any case make sure it is specifically for exchange server and
ties into the exchange server API or it will very likely corrupt the
exchange server mail and information stores. There are also some small
business packages which include components to protect both the exchange
stores and the remainder of the servers files, and some with additional
workstation components and licenses to outfit an entire soho lan.

I agree that Sophos is excellent for this. E-mail me if you would like a
quote or more information.
