Hello
I need to place a lcd monitor 14 meters from the pc.
The video card has vga and dvi ports. I need to run fairly high
resolution. The lcd will be a ceiling pole mount.
What is my best cable solution
standard vga cable?
DVI fiberoptic extension?
What is most commonly used here.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You're not going to get anything near that with a conventional cable.

If you don't mind the extra radiation floating around, some form of wifi
video sounds the most practical.

On the home front, both D-Link & Cisco (nee LinkSys) make streaming
units that propagate the signal via wireless transmission. Not sure
about the commercial side, but I'm sure it's out there as well.

For that long a distance you are virtually going to have to find a way to
use fiber optic cable. The noise induced and gain loss over that distance
is too great for a standard DVI cable.

I would use DVI over fibre optic extenders. This one supports to up 1280x1024
and a distance of up to 700m (certainly not cheap tho):
