I'm using Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2000 and have two questions:

1) what options are "best" for someone who wants to make appointments for a
group of 3-4 others, but does not need to be included in the appointment. I
think what we're doing now is to issue a Meeting Request and after
responses, delete w/o notice from the organizer's calendar.

Is there a method whereby someone can issue meeting requests w/o including
the meeting on his/her calendar?

2) Is there a method in which someone can put an entry on another person's
calendar and have an email automatically generated to the calendar owner
notifying? (The only method I know of is to forward the created appointment
to the calendar owner....this will work if we can train the owners to
recognize it. Is there another way?)

Thanks much.

For Question No 1:

Open Outlook
Right click on your top level folder in your mailbox
(The one that starts with Outlook today - ...)
Select NEW FOLDER...
Type a name like OTHER PEOPLES MEETINGS
In the "Folder Contains" box select APPOINTMENT ITEMS

Then the next time you make an appointment for
someone else, Open the OTHER PEOPLES MEETINGS
calendar folder and make your meetings from that calendar.

You will receive a message that because this is not your
default calendar the appointment responses will not be tallied.
This means that as people accept or decline these meetings
the attendee availability information will not be recorded in
the meeting.

This also allows you to make changes to the meeting if
necessary.
