Best midrange card for Doom3?

Trying to decide which graphics card to include in a new system,using Doom 3
as the benchmark.I can't afford some supersystem,I figure between $200.00 to
$300.00 for the graphics.There are so many different models,with several
variations of individual models,within the Nvidia and Radeon lines,it's hard
to determine which is the best value.

I hope you plan to use an Athlon 64 processor to play Doom 3. A $160
Athlon 64 3000+ beats an $825 P4 3.2 EE in Doom 3.

You didn't say which motherboard your computer has. NOT all video cards
work with all motherboards, so it would help if you told us.

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. It's around $200 and it should be more than
sufficient for playing Doom III.

I don't have it yet,I'm deciding on what components to include.At this
point,I'm thinking of going with an AMD 64 processor,so the mb will probably
be compatable with the newer vid cards.

9800Pro or FX5900
The Nvidia cards seem to be having fewer problems with Doom3.
