I am getting ready to upgrade from a abit kg7 AMD 1800 XP/512/PC133 ram..
Which vendors can you guys (and girls?) recomend?
Also what would be the best MD/CPU/RAM combo to get the the most noticible
performance increase?

Thanks,

NewEgg! Get an nF2 motherboard, PC3500 memory and a XP2500 (pre 0339 if you
can find one). My personal preference is a Shuttle AN35N Ultra with the 2500
Barton and Kingston HyperX, but I'm sure you will receive many other good
suggestions ;-)

Best bang for the buck would be an AthlonXP 2800-3000,
combined with DDR333 or DDR400 memory and any of the
modern motherboards. With the wider FSB and the
incraesed CPU speed, you should see close to a doubling
of performance over your 1800/PC133. At least it should
be 50%+ faster.

(I still have an old AthlonXP 1700+ and PC133. It's
able to create QuickPar data at a rate of 275 MB/s,
while my AthlonXP 2600+ with DDR333 clocks in at 405
MB/s... completely meaningless statistic of course.)
