Best Graphics Card For My Cpu

I play mostly older games on my Duron 900 computer using a TNT2 Ultra 32 mb gaphics card.
I usually buy 2cd hand on Ebay and would really appreciate any advice on upgrading the graphics card.
I want to stick with the Duron for the time being. What's the best card I could buy that wouldn't overwhelm the CPU - or doesn't it work like that? Thanks
 
You are right there, the CPU is a limiting factor (your ram is another major factor). If you want to upgrade the graphics cheaply, something like a GeForce 2 GTS or GeForce 4 MX would probably be very cheap to buy and give you a much better gaming experience. (The probably sell for a tenner on ebay now!). A newer card than that might not give you much of a speed boost at all in comparison.

You may be able to pick a cheap CPU for not much more that would greatly improve the speed if you are after that. Your motherboard may be able to handle something fairly high.

Maybe a BIOS update to increase it's capabilities? I've found in the past motherboards I have had maybe 2 - 3 years that I have flashed later on have been able to accept CPU's 20% - 40% more powerful than the one originally installed. This has gotta be worth looking into?

All it take is a visit to the motherboard maufacturer and look up the most recent BIOS for it. Most manufacturers nowadays have software that will look at your board and actually assist in the download process for you, to make sure you get the correct one!
