Which of these is the best free Personal Antivirus?
-avast! 4 Home Edition
-AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
-AntiVir Personal Edition

There are two worthy ones.

AntiVir recommended by PC Utilities Freeware this month

&

AVG recommended by MaximumPC this month

Neither work on spyware.....
 
Maximum PC gives AVG a higher rating that Norton 2004 for destroying
viruses.

Probably AVG, but just use whatever you feel most comfortable with.

You wouldn't happen to know how often the signatures are updated, would you?

Avast!

They have been improving the program alot and it's detection and
functionality is now superior to the others in my opinion.

Avast (Pro). I used AVG free version, then bought AVG version 7. I've moved
to Avast after AVG let a couple of viruses through

AVG is installed and working fine. The updates don't seem like they'll be
all that frequent however.

Avast! without a doubt, very underated antivirus.
 
Dont bother with AVG 7.x. I tried it and it deactivated several of my
programs. I can no longer run or open many exe files. What's worse is that I
cannot even re-install or un-install the program. I've yet to get a
satisfactory solution from the tech support guys at grisoft. Just passing on
my experiences.
