Hi,

I have only made one movie and burned it to dvd. I had to
use two dvd's due to the file size, about 20g. I do not
remember which format i used when capturing.

I am making my second video, which will include music,
pictures and video captured from sony hi-8 dv recorder
and canon mini-dv recorder. When capturing mm2 on win xp
p4, reommended setting is wmv. Is dv-avi a better setting
to save to my computer and then burn to dvd in terms of
quality?

Yes. DV-AVI is always better than WMV. However there is an assumption
that the source of the video is actually up-to DV-AVI standards.

But no matter what the source, saving the result as DV-AVI will always
give you a better result. Do not fall into the extremely stupid pit fall of
accepting the advice "Saving to DV-AVI will improve the quality". The actual
statement should be...saving to anything else will degrade the result.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
