Hello everyone,

I had HUGE lag times and kept getting STUCK when walking around
in Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) using ATI
latest driver 3.10.

So I went back to driver version 3.7 and now everything runs
smoothly (touch, it's pure velvet ! ;).

I also read here and there that 3.7 is definitely the best version
of the ATI drivers for Radeon 8500 cards.

So if you want performances AND stability go for it !

"THREE dot SEVEN" !

BTW, I use the omega ones found at http://www.omegacorner.com
because there are less bugs crawling around than in the official ones.

ENJOY !

The 3.7s are the best but KotOR still locks up occasionally and my PC
is rock steady otherwise. For example at the Yavin Space Station I tried to
take my crew out in pairs to strip off armour and weapons before going to
the merchant to
sell old stuff and upgrade - I wanted to take out 2 / strip / go back and
get another 2 ...
the game crashed when trying to reenter the Ebon Hawk without fail.
Truth is KotOR is a Nvidia kiss ass game.

SORRY !

Telling you that 3.7 solved my problem
in Knights of the Old Republic was a MISTAKE !

In fact, the culprit was my USB DSL MODEM !

I didn't realize until then that it is such
a RESOURCE HOG => -28% at 3DMark2001 when
it is connected to my PC !!!

So I went back to 3.10 and when I play to KOTOR
I UNPLUG my modem to free resources.

Voilà !

;>)

let me get this clearly - you can play the game fine with the
3.7s and your modem plugged in but you prefer to unplug your modem and use
the 3.10s instead ? how does it play with the 3.7s and no modem ? have you
tried that ?
