I just tried that switching to 1600x1200 (the native resolution of
Samsung 204B) and the font so tiny I can barely see what I'm typing.

Then you should make the font bigger in whatever application you're typing
in. That's independent of the resolution.
 
Then try 800x600.(exactly 1/2)
