Hi all,
I've googled this one quite a bit before asking, but would like everyone's
feedback as to the best out there as of q4 2003.
The criteria I am evaluating:
1) Ease of remote installations
2) Ease of remote administration
3) small footprint of virus signature updates to send to remote laptop users
4) low CPU utilization / plays nicely with other apps / does not suck
We are currently on InnoculateIT 4.53 and need to move to another AV
software ASAP as it will no longer be supported after December. InnoculateIT
in my opinion is/was just horrible, so I am shying away from Etrust. It had
a nice feature where the realtime monitor would shut off after an update and
never come back on until a reboot. It also never seemed to be able to cure
files, and seemed only to detect after a virus was launched-- 'you have the
xxx virus, your hard drive is being eaten alive, and there is not a thing
you can do about it.'
Based on google newsgroup searches, I am going to try evaluating the
following:
1) Trend OfficeScan
2) Sophos
3) Symantec Corporate AV
I have heard good things about the above 3 solutions. I definitely need some
feedback as I have to make a decision soon. We have about 300 wkstns
98-nt-2000-xp and about 30 remote laptop users (98 and xp).
