Just curious what you guys think is the best antivirus software for windows
XP.

I am currently using AVP antivirus (because it's free) but I wanted to
switch to something that was better.
I always thought Norton's was best but this site seems to say otherwise:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/index.html?http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/comparatives.html

My original plan was to go with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (not
Norton's regular one) but because of Norton's poor rating I was thinking
about trying Kapersky antivirus or someother one.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

JC

I can recommend Kaspersky, although the frontend can seem complex at
first because you can configure almost everything, it will do it's job
'out-of-the-box' though.

Kaspersky personal pro has the best malware detection engine, good job
you researched norton/symantec, IMHO their products are just not up to
the job any more.

I uploaded a single infected file to Virus Total. These were the results:

Hi All,
I have noticed that all the time I have been on the net and I have used
various antivirus software programs some pick up viruses quicker than
others. I do however really like Trojan Hunter as I have helped numerous
people with pretty difficult trojans to get rid of and its cleaned their
pc's very well.I also really like HijackThis. So theres my option!!

I've also noticed that Symantec skips a lot of bugs out there that Girsoft AVG picks
up; I use both products now to check any new file I receive.

Do you (or anyone else know) if Symantec Anti-Virus is superior to Norton's
regular antivirus? Most of the test sites list just Norton's antivirus...

Kapersky seems to come up rated best on that other site, and I don't mind
taking the time to configure a program as long as it works well.

Thanks
