What is the best Antivirus software on the market?
what program is the best:
- AVG 7 Pro
- nod32
- Kerio
- ...?

there is no best anti-virus product... there are only very good ones
and ones you should probably just ignore... strange as it may sound,
the majority of the mainstream scanners are close enough to each other
detection-rate-wise that the decision of which one to use basically
comes down to personal preference with regards to things like update
schedules, resource usage, customer support, and even UI...

if you're simply looking for a recommendation, i tend towards f-prot...

oh, and by the way, kerio isn't an anti-virus product it's a personal
firewall... they may sell a repackaged av technology that they've
licensed from someone else (i don't know, i haven't checked) but they
definitely aren't a mainstream av developer...

As far as I know, Kerio doesn't do AV. Kerio does
software personal firewalls.

....and these (firewalls) aren't strictly for anti-virus measures.

Of course, _my_ software is the best, definitely;-)

Up to date, it has been Norton AV 2003 ($$) - now I'm switching to
Avast! (free for personal home use) and still happy.

I am familiar with the tests performed by Prof. Brunnstein and his staff
& students but their testing does not cover all _my_ wishes; my dream
scanner
- shows good detection rates incl. low false positives _and_
- is most comfortable to handle (in particular easy switch on/off,
downloads of virus definition updates without registration)
and especially
- has not to be activated (not because of $$, but because of comfort!).

And I feel free to use, from time to time, the online scanners of
BitDefender, McAfee, and Symantec.

Just switched from Norton to Avast Free,digging it so far!!!
 
Kerio also is exploiteable but not if you know what the **** your doing on the Internet to keep yourself
secure. Hell, I've not updated my anti-virus application for a year now and NONE of you ****ers have hacked
into my computer. READ IT LEARN IT.

Someone here can probably walk you through the procedures if
you ask them nicely.
 
I have used Norton for years, but like NOD32 MUCH better.

It catches viruses that Norton let through.

NOD32 is better and cheaper.

That's like recommending AOL as an ISP ;)

Google.. you know.. something you can S-E-A-R-C-H the net with.

Seeing as you failed to be able to use this level of intellect.. I suggest
just unplugging your box and taking it back. Best AV you'll ever get ya
hands on.. and much less of a threat to everyone with some initiative.

I personally like AVG7, it works well, updates often and always
catches emails I get with Virus' also for the price it is very easy on
the wallet :)
