I inquire this question once and awhile..
Is there a standard benchmarking software accepted as standard and
undoubtable?

The once and awhile check in searching has revealed more and more
software...

On another note, its been a year for my 6th home pc and use
distributed.net client as bench.

if someone could compare this number to a similar 2.8e intel pc that would
be informative

18,170,000 nodes/sec at farly idle pc

here is photo.

I basically want to know how my pc is doing..advice would be great.

No. There are MANY benchmark suites available, and none of them is "best"
for all purposes.

PC Magazine's benchmark suite is arguably the most comprehensive "real
world" benchmark suite around. However, even that suite was "corrupted" in
the past by gfx card mfgrs who tweaked their cards to respond more rapidly
to specific routines used in the suite...

Download or buy a couple that test what you want tested, the way you want it
tested (lab or live applications).

And you'll keep getting the same answer.

Nope.

Because there is no such animal.

I went with the first test returned in search called passmark. No baselines
to compare to except extremes in either direction..
did inform me my mem speed and hdd speed is still right up there with the
latest, not enough to be startled about.

I guess the 2.8e is good enough still.
