Belkin Easy Transfer Error

I have had absolutely no luck getting this "easy" Transfer cable to work and
Belkin Tech Support is of absolutely no help. I am transferring from an XP
SP2 Computer to a brand new vista. I have installed, uninstalled and
reinstalled the software off the disk and the Belkin website. I do not have
any firewalls or anti-virus software running. I can get the two computers to
see one another but when I attempt the transfer I get an immediate error
message on my XP computer stating the easy transfer software emcountered and
error and must close. I have tried the transfer piecemeal and just tried to
transfer my desktop (71 MB), but I get the same error message at the same
point. I have removed programs including Spybot to see if it is a problem.
Absolutely no luck. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I prefer to either burn data to CD, or copy data to memory stick, external
drive, etc; and redo personal settings manually.
And reinstall your other applications from the applications disks.

Thanks Mick. The problem isn't so much the migration procedure but about
migwiz closing itself on my old computer due to the dreaded standard "error
message". What could be causing that and what can I do to prevent it? I
have no programs running on the computer other than migwiz. Thanks.
