I updated to the current Belarc Advisor and when requesting a report the
dialoque box asks for Microsoft Office 2000 Cd to be in the tray. It appears
to be searching for Data.msi. Once it 'sees' that then the report is
produced.
An older version did not do that and it seems strange for a recent Belarc
version to be looking for an .msi dated 1999.
Has anyone else had this?

I downloaded and ran Belarc today and did not have any problem. It sounds
like maybe you have a file association problem.

Sorry I can't give a more definitive answer!

You need the Office Cd in the CD-Rom for this:
It does the same thing to me. Go to the control panel>add/remove
Programs>Microsoft Office 2000>Click "change">add/remove featues and look
for a disc type icon>click on the "CD looking" icon> and select either "run
from MyComputer or Not available>then click on the Install now button

MyComputer will install ALL the files necessary to run that componet from
the hard drive
Not Available will remove the component from your system

In my case it was PowerPoint

I haven't tested this but I suspect this is why that is happening in Belarc
