I use Powerpoint 2003 on my desktop machine and on my laptop. When I try to
open a certain presentation on my desktop, it gives me the message that the
presentation is being modified by myself (the name on used on my laptop) and
asks whether I want to open a read-only copy. The problem is that, while my
laptop is at times connected to my home network, it is at the moment off and
resting in my closet.

Can someone tell me what to alter to correct this? Thank you.

Hi Bob,

See if you can find a file names
~yourpresentationname.ppt and delete it.

Hi Glenna,

I did some further investigation and understand the problem better now. I
created a presentation (I will call "A") which I wanted to keep but also
make some modifications to for other purposes. So, I went to Windows
Explorer and made a copy of the file in the same directory with a different
name (I will call this one "B"). Whenever, I open either presentation (A or
B) and then open the other one, I get a message as I am opening the second
presentation saying that the second presentation is being modified by myself
and asking whether I want to open a read-only copy.

In truth, I am modifying the other presentation that used to be the same.
How can I fix this? Thanks.

Bob
