Beginning show from current slide edited

Checked out help and the FAQ to no avail (largely because
I'm not sure what to look for.)

Whilst working on a show, I often have occasion
to 'playback a few slides' around the one I'm working on -
this gives an idea how things are flowing, and helps
place the current ideas into some context. Usually this
involves
1. Play show (F5)
2. Right-Click -> 'Go' -> 'By Title' -> Navigate to the
slide in question.

Some of the presentations run to a hundred slides or
more, so this can become tedious.
I know I'm being very lazy, but there must be a simpler
way.
Is there a 'Play show from current slide' option in the
editing mode that I haven't been able to find? I don't
want to make a custom show up, and can't see any other
alternative.
Cheers all,

Rod,

Hi from Qld!

One way to access a particular slide is to type in the number and hit enter.
But not much help if you don't know what slide you are chasing. In
PowerPoint 2003, <Shift + F5> will launch the current slide from the
Slide-view window. Does that help?

Not sure which version of PowerPoint you have, but in all versions you can
click on the Slide Show icon that you'll find just above "Draw" on the Draw
toolbar at the bottom of your screen. That will take you to Show mode at
the currently selected slide. In PowerPoint 2003 Shft + F5 is the new
keyboard shortcut to do the same.

Thanks indeed, two perfect solutions from opposite ends
of the world:

1. Shift+F5,
2. Slide Show Icon above 'Draw' at bottom left (default)

Thanks again for helping out a boxhead like myself.

Not with Powerpoint 2002 unfortunately. Solution in the
post below works though (Click 'Slide Show' from just
above draw menu at the bottom left plays the show from
the current slide.) I really would like to know the
keyboard shortcut for this though as I'm much more
comfortable with it than the mouse (and clearly VERY
lazy). Do you know of a list of keyboard shortcuts (the
only one I've found on the web is for much older versions
of PPT)
Thanks again,

Hi,

number and hit enter.
From where?

Type the number in on the keyboard, and hit enter, while you are in
slideshow mode. By the way, while in slideshow mode, hit F1 and you will get
keyboard shortcuts for slideshow mode. Else, type keyboard shortcuts into
the help area adn you get a bunch. Else, F5 for slideshow, but always from
the start in 2002.
