SO what i need is a program or something that is the best for finding
who has what acess to what folders/drives in a company. any ideas of
what software or whatever gets this job done so that i can make an easy
chart to show someone that has all that info in it.

ie sally works in skippy department and has full, read, no access to
bread folder/file...

seems like the network software would have some sort of reporting
capabilities regarding user permissions. have you discussed it with your
company's LAN administrator or IT department?

the only way you'd get this information from Access, that i know of, would
be if you built a database to manually enter and update this data, then you
could write reports from it. but the reports would only be as current and
accurate as the manual data entry that they were based on.

The tools you require are under "auditing" in the resource kits supplied with
the server operating system, e.g. Windows 2000 server.

They need to be run on the server itself, or by a user with remote
administration rights on the server - your systems administrator

You can get a list of all the network shares by typing NET SHARE at the
command prompt.

If you want to do an access database to manage and plan this administartion
function, stream this command to a text file and import that into a table as
a basis for your system.
