This is probably a very simple question but I can not
seem to figure this one out.

I recently installed a new hard drive and set up two
partitions on the drive, one for Windows 2000 and the
other for all my files. I had heard that doing this
worked pretty well because if you ever had to re-install
Windows you could just reformat the Windows partition
without touching your other data. Anyway, now my problem
is whenever I go to save something off the net or install
a program, it always defaults to the C: drive, which I
have set up with my Windows 2000 and has very little room
on it. So I always have to manually switch the directory
over to the D: drive. Is there a way to flip flop these
two partions so the D: drive becomes the C: drive? Any
help would be appreciated.

There is a way, but your system will not work anymore
since you are changing System drive name.
Are you willing to do that?

Do this:
In the Registry Editor (Start | Run, type regedit), go to the
following Registry key:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

In the right pane of the console, right click the ProgramFilesDir
entry and click Modify.

In the Edit String dialog box, type in a new path, such as
F:\Program Files (that would set the new default location as the
Program Files folder on the F: drive).

Click OK.
Close the Registry Editor.

This will solve the bulk of your problems. You might additionally
move your Temporary Internet files and Outlook Express message
store off the C drive as well.
