Hi, I have A Dell Dimension with Windows XP as my OS Home premium SP3 and I
am learning Powerpoint. On my computer at home it works but on this computer
I am having a problem I hope someone can help me with.
The probem is: In the XP system with Powerpoint 2003 I am trying to create
a presentation from .JPG files. When I browse to the folder and double click
the .JPG file to add it as a slide Powerpoint tells me that it cannot read
this type of file and suggested I try another program. So I double clicked
it and it opened fine in Windows Picture and fax viewer. Can someone in
basic steps explain to me how to get Powerpoint to read these .JPG files?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kaja,

a slide is a slide and a picture is a picture. If you want a picture on your
slide, open a blank slide and use Insert - Imgage - From file. You cannot
open JPGs (and other image formats) directly with PowerPoint (but you can
save a slide as an image, if necessary).

Best regards,
Ute
