Hi,

I want to re-install XP Pro on my machine. And I have some questions:

1. I have multiple machines; how can I know which CD-Key I used

2. Can I pre-download all current updates?
I have a CD with XP SP1 on it; but given all these virusses on the wild, I'd
like to download all patches, burn them on a cd. I will then re-install and
update the machine offline.

Thanks

Hi Rudi,

1) To find the Prodcut Key used on each:

This utility works for retail versions:
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/ViewKeyXP.exe

For OEM versions, download and install Aida32 from:
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32

You want the Personal Operating System version. The key is under OS
information.

Or, try this one which just gives you the key:

2) You have two options:

a) Order the Security update CD:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp

b) Go to Windows Update, select the catalog option in the left column. If it
doesn't show, add it using the personalize section. Then select your
Operating System and download any of the updates you want. These are the
stand-alone versions that you can burn to CD and reuse as often as you like.
