I dropped my external hard drive and now it just beeps and will not
work. Any ideas on how I can recover the data?

Depends on what you broke when you dropped it.

If you broke the logic card, you can swap
that for a good one with some drives.

If you broke something inside the sealed chamber, you'll
likely need professional recovery to get your data back.

Very likely you cannot. If it "beeps" that is quite possibly an
unsuccesful attempt to calibrate the mechanics. Unless you are lucky
and primary something else broke (the enclosure electronics)
you can have this disk professionally recoverd (expensive), but that
is about it. What you can try is to remove the disk from its case
and connect it directly to a PC. You may be able to read the
data or not.
