my new vista laptop keeps making a "toot-toot" sound when i am on the

Hi,
Sounds like a sound in an instant messaging program. Check the system tray
at lower right (by the clock) and either exit the programs, or adjust the
notification preferences in them.

i don't think thats it.
i use gmail. i shut down the chat client and i still hear the beeps.
they are random, but about 10-15 per minute

Control Panel/Sound/Sounds tab, scroll through the list to see if you can
find what action is causing this sound.
