So i got a challange from a guy on another forum yesterday, and as i was bored i took him up on the offer.. :)

I pushed my i7 upto 4.2Ghz and the 480 to 830/1660/1848 (Core/Shader/Memory) and benched it with, among others, 3DMark06 (i know its outdated, but thats what he wanted!)

Anyway here's what it got.....

Me! :D

He wanted to see if his SLI'ed 285's and 4.3Ghz Watercooled i7 could match the 480! It was close, he scored 27048...

His Result.....

Alas without high end watercooling i very much doubt i'll be able to hit 5Ghz... Yet. ;)

That is one beast of a machine, V_R! :D

Do you know what result you get on stock speeds? I'd be interested to know how much "free" performance gain you get if you've got the result handy :).

I do wonder the same thing tbh Ian, i know i gained 1145 points in 3DMark06 just by upping the CPU to 4.2 from 4.0Ghz if that gives you an idea.

Maybe one day i'll drop it down and see what it does. :)

That's quite a jump for just 200mhz - not bad for a no-cost upgrade :thumb: .

I did think about it, but i think i change my hardware too often, i'd be forever leak testing! :D
