Just found a bag of Beef Jerky in our cupboard, and its yummy :D Anyone know where you can get this in the UK, or what the lovely flavouring is?

Yummy Yummy Yummy

You're joking!

I bought a bag of that from Asdas a few months ago and it was like chewing a strip of shoe leather that had been left in the bottom of a budgie's cage :D

Disgusterous.

Can't remember the ingredients but there sure are a lot of them. Definitely sugar of some type and I think maybe coriander.

theres diffrent kinds here in the US. my mom loves the stuff i personally dont like it. They have Deer JErky which is from Deer But yea i guess its good to some people.

A quick look, it seems ingredients differ a lot between makers and recipes, but here's a list for Maple & Spice flavour:

MAPLE & SPICE
Real Vermont maple syrup in our Maple & Spice gives it a light, sweet taste combined with the right amount of spices for a unique taste. Available in jerky strips, chews or bits.

Ingredients:
beef
soy sauce (water, salt, hydrolized soy protein, corn syrup, caramel color, potassium sorbate)
maple syrup
worcestershire sauce (water, vinegar, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, anchovies, hydrolized soy and corn protein, onions, tamarinds, salt, garlic, cloves, chili peppers, natural flavors and eschalots)
flavorings
mustard powder
red pepper

Mmmmmmmmmmm its lovely :) Then again, I like Marmite so what do I know ;)

Cheers for those ingredients Floppy, I'll have a go at mixing some of those things into my cooking next time and see what happens :D

Soy sauce goes well with everything ;) Can't go wrong with that... especially in Cottage Pie :D

Beef Jerky, YUK!

Somehow it seems to make it's way into our shopping trolley... as long as I'm not made to eat it I'm happy :)

I like Marmite too but that beef jerky.....

I thought I would have liked it but the taste - yuk

Maybe I need a different recipe ;)

Just munched a Pepperoni Firestick. That issa one hot spicy meatball :D

Post a pic of this stuff Ian so we can see what it looks like!! Not too sure myself but would be willing to try it!!!

Gabs xx

Ian mate, I am sorry to say this but.....that stuff looks really gross!!

Does it come with a sauce or do you need 2 gallons of liquid to get it to slip down the old throat?

I am not scared of new food but I am afraid that one will be getting a miss from me.

Nice to see what we're all talking about though!!

Gabs xx

You have to chew it for about half an hour before it becomes swallowable. I think it was a way for people to have meat when none was available fresh!

It usually comes in packs of 25g, in small strips - they are quite chewy! If you like meat, then its lovely :)

I can't really describe it, but its worth a try if you see a small pack for a pound :)
