I bought a system with xp pro preinstalled, but did not get the CD and had no way of obtaining it. So, I bought another copy of xp pro. All I want to do is have my product key registered, load the iis component and repair the CD writer. Is there a way to do this without losing any of my programs, configurations, updates and the like or do I have to start from scratch? There is one other program on my system that I do not have the CD for and quite frankly can't afford to buy every single one of them at once. Is there a way to save the program

I think the following link may help. You will have to re-install all of your
updates.

Have not used it but there is a tool to change the product key without
losing anything. Use at your own risk though.
